- Past Saturday, February 18th, the circuit of Puerto Madero were welcome the Formula E, the FIA championship that uses electric cars in urban layouts.
Buenos Aires, February 16th, 2017 -. Enel, the controlling company of Edesur, Enel Generation Costanera, Enel Generation El Chocón and Central Dock Sud, is the Official Power Partner of Formula E, a collaboration launched in May 2016 that aims to promote technological progress in energy infrastructure championships and contribute to their efficiency and sustainability.
Enel, a world leader in digital networking technologies and creating infrastructure for electric mobility, has developed a microgrid with 40 smart meters managed through Enel´s software platform, Energy Management System, which allows real-time monitoring of the energy consumption and the performance of the energy system in the championship.
Smart meters are based on the technology used in Enel´s digital counters, but introduce new features to suit the needs of a global event like Formula E: flexible plug and play design to be quickly and easily installed and removed, a more solid construction and the ability to monitor more electrical parameters for a more efficient monitoring of the system.
Furthermore, Enel did install four points of electric vehicle charging service used in the Fan Zone and a generation system with solar panels combined with a power storage system that will be supplied to the eSport Arena. This facility represents an innovation in the world of Formula E, and aims to transform the championship in the first entertainment with zero emissions.
The participants of the event shall had the possibility to visit the stand of Enel in the eVillage: there could learn more about the collaboration with Enel Formula E and appreciate the company´s innovative energy solutions, including the technology vehicle-to-grid ("V2G") to charge electric vehicles that allows the storage of energy in the car itself, and returning the unused energy to the grid if necessary.
On the stand, visitors could also access a web application that allows them to check real-time power consumption of the circuit area and learn more about the energy aspects of the race in an interactive way.
Enel, through its subsidiaries in the power distribution and generation operation, is the largest private energy company in Argentina. The generation subsidiaries, Enel Generation Costanera, Enel Generation El Chocón and Central Dock Sud have a combined installed capacity of more than 4.5 GW thermal and hydro-electrical source, equivalent to 13.6% of the installed capacity in the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI). In the distribution sector, the subsidiary of Edesur operates in the urban area of Buenos Aires, serving nearly 2.5 million customers, equivalent to 17% of the total population of the country.
