Against all odds, the Enel Generación Costanera team added ten points in favor, after repairing in record time one of the two gas turbines of the thermal power plant.

It is a mechanical damage that occurred in the # 8 gas turbine, specifically an atypical breakage of the exciter shaft, never seen anywhere in the world.

In the first instance, the Costanera team called different suppliers, including the original team, to complete the repair. The proposal that would take less time was 14 months.

Given this scenario, the team of professionals and technicians of the thermal power plant proposed to make the repair "in house", in order to minimize time and save resources. And so they did in 35 days of uninterrupted work. The saving was 75%.

Today, the gas turbine is fully operational and the team that participated in this repair very proud of the achievement. “This is the first time this has happened in the world and that we have repaired it, in the first person, it is a pride. We only saw this in books at the university, we never imagined living it. And we don't just live it, we solve it. ”
