It is an SME with more than 40 years in the market that was born between the town of Lanús, south of the Buenos Aires Conurbano and in the province of Catamarca, by the hand of two brothers, who always dedicated themselves to safety clothing.
The natural growth of this small company was accompanied by the diversification of its products, managing to cover not only all types of clothing and footwear but also safety accessories.
Today they are the largest safety clothing and footwear factory in the country and the only company authorized by the Ombu brand to make and market its safety boots.
A 30-year relationship
The relationship between Confecat and Edesur dates back to the early 90s, when this SME was established as the first to provide work clothing for our distributor. At that time, production volumes were not that high, in line with market demand.
Over time, it increased until it reached about 2,000 pairs of footwear per year, in 2020 alone. It must be considered that, according to regulations, each operator must use two pairs of safety footwear per year.
But Edesur is not the only company to which Confecat supplies clothing of this type. It also does it to other energy distributors and generators in the country, steel, electromechanical, automotive and transportation.
In total, they produce 4,000 pairs of footwear per day, which means 120,000 pairs per month and more than one million per year.
Its more than 700 workers at the Catamarca and La Rioja plants, in addition to its offices in Córdoba and Buenos Aires, work diligently every day to achieve high-quality products that meet the necessary safety standards in the country. Currently, it already has 280 products certified by IRAM.

But at Confecat they not only manufacture, they also design their own clothing and footwear models. In fact, they have a laboratory where quality controls are rigorously followed.
Roberto Tellini, commercial executive, stressed that they are "the only company in the field that has its own laboratory, where an inspection is made of all products that enter to produce or raw material, and at the end of that product resistance tests are carried out. traction, comfort and comfort notification ”.
Edesur footwear
The safety footwear used by energy distribution companies must follow certain standards in their manufacture: special grain leather with 2.2 millimeters thick, resistant steel sole, steel toe cap and dielectric. With all this, the product is suitable to have an IRAM seal which certifies its guarantee.
Edesur footwear must also have an anti-perforation insole that prevents the entry of sharp elements.
